Chapter Six

“I guess not,” Seth said. “Vampires are not known for announcing their presence in situations like this.” He pulled back, his damp cock slipping from her. “Go into the bathroom, it’s just there.” He quickly moved from the bed and pulled on his jeans. “Lock the door and only open it if I tell you to. Me, and me alone.”

She nodded, then scooted to the opposite side of the bed. There was a door next to the dresser. She guessed that must be the bathroom.

Naked, she stepped inside and twisted the lock to block herself in.

Like the rest of the apartment, the bathroom was lavish and decadent. The tub stood on gold feet with claws, and a double sink had what appeared to be an antique mirror behind it. The floor was cool, marble she thought, and the tiles a pale silvery gray. To the right was a huge shower cubicle with a glass enclosure and was easily big enough for several occupants.

She spotted two black velvet robes and, after using the toilet, pulled one on. Her skin was tingling still, perspiration sitting in her cleavage.

Fastening the belt at her waist, she went back to the door, and put her ear to the crack in the jamb, hoping to hear what was happening.

She hoped to hell it wasn’t Bennington. That he hadn’t somehow managed to break through the defenses around her, given the wolves the slip and made it into the apartment.

Low murmuring voices crept toward her. Seth was speaking.

Her heart rate settled: he didn’t appear overly stressed. She hoped that meant the visitor was a welcome one, even if the call hadn’t been at the perfect moment.

She went to the mirror and peered at her reflection. Her pupils were wide and her hair tousled.

After running her hands under the tap, she smoothed the strands on her crown, reducing the frizz. She then wiped at the mascara that had seeped a little beneath her eyes.

She smiled, a big wide grin she hadn’t seen herself wear for a while. Was it Seth? Was it him who’d made her feel lighter, brighter, despite the danger her life was in? Of course it was. He was hot and handsome and damn the guy knew how to pleasure a woman. And his gorgeous big cock, wow, she’d like to get acquainted with that again—soon.

“Megan.”

She turned to the door. “Yes?”

“It’s me, it’s fine to come out.” Seth paused. “Come and meet Abraham.”

Abraham? Wasn’t Abraham a wolf? The one who’d been running in the shadows by the wall earlier?

She held the lock, suddenly feeling unsure about coming face to face with another wolf. Nia had been big enough and she was pretty sure Abraham would be bigger.

“Megan, it’s okay. I promise.” Seth’s deep, strong voice came through the wood. “Come out.”

“Okay.” She pulled in a deep breath and turned the lock. She opened it a fraction.

“That’s it,” he said.

She peered through the gap and saw his face. He appeared concerned.

“Are you sure it’s okay?” she asked.
